Film Review: Maleficent, Mistress of Evil

The film Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is unlike any Disney so far.

Angelina Jolie is back playing the iconic Maleficent, this is the villain from the original Sleeping Beauty storyline. However, Disney cease to amaze as usually with a fresh new twist on the classic with fans left debating who the real mistress of evil really is!

Maleficent is portrayed as the evil heartless witch but in 2014 release gives a glimpse of something different with the 2019 release sequel coming full circle to show she is anything but heartless.

Five years on since the last release all is about the change for maleficent with the news of (Elle Fanning) Auroraā€™s wedding on the horizon, she must face (Harris Dickinson) Prince Phillipā€™s mother played by the wonderful Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingris.

This queen is not all she appears to be, behind closed doors she secretly hatches a plan to destroy all things magical. Can Maleficent stop her before its too late?

As well as being a sequel, this film explores new exciting paths such as Maleficentā€™s origins and how she will go to keep those she loves safe.

For those left wondering from the 2014 release whether maleficent will have the ability to transform like her 1959 counterpart, they were gifted with the phenomenal transformation during the battle of the Moors and Ulstead.

Aurora (Elle Fanning) as a strong female queen, stands up for what is right to help end the conflict and unite the lands with her union to her beloved Prince Phillip making even her godmother Maleficent shed a tear of joy.

This film is must-see with fans left wanting more from the short 158 minutes going by in the blink of an eye.
