Nottingham’s Dot to Dot festival is back this Sunday May 26 showcasing a range of local talent and up-and-coming stars. Here’s our list of artists you won’t want to miss…

1. Sancho Panza

Where: Red Room (Rescue Rooms)

Fresh on the scene as of late 2018, the Nottingham quintet have already garnered a cult following across the midlands. Bringing psychedelic-pop blended with slacker rock vibes and a garage twist, Sancho Panza’s transient resonance will transport you into a hazy dreamland. Hardly inexperienced, the band features former members of midlands-based psychedelic bands: The Hijinks and The Lizards. Catch these guys early at Rescue Room’s Red Room at 1:45pm.

2. Vega Bay

Where: The Playwright (formerly The Orange Tree)

A strong favourite for a plethora of support slots, the last couple of years have seen indie-rockers – Vega Bay – develop and establish themselves on the Nottingham scene, ready for their headline EP launch at The Bodega this September. The boys bring fast-paced upbeat rhythms of classic indie, akin to Peace and Two Door Cinema Club, but with their own unique twist on it all. Don’t miss them playing the stage of the newly refurbished Playwright at 5:30pm.

3.

3. Black Mustard

Where: Giardino (formerly Ugly Bread Bakery, Market Street)

Black Mustard is the brainchild of local legends in their own rights – solo artists Jimi Mack and Alice Robbins. Fusing a beautiful foundation of folk music with elements of psychedelia, the duo began writing together last summer and complement each other’s distinctive sound perfectly. Make sure you catch them at Giardino, on stage at 7:30pm.

4. Nactus Kunan

Where: Black Cherry Lounge (Rock City)

Founded in 2017, alternative indie band Nactus Kunan have brought their 80’s-inspired sound to an array of stages across the UK, and are already signed to local label Phlexx Records. Combining George Michael-esque ballads with the synth-heavy sounds of New Order, the quartet creatively merge retro with a modern twist. The guys are taking on Rock City’s Black Cherry Lounge Stage at 3:45pm, get yourselves down to have a groove with them.

5. Do Nothing

Where: Rescue Rooms

Following a ‘coming of age’ rebranding from Field Studies to Do Nothing in 2017, the band have taken the UK by storm, gaining a new-found nationwide following. Adopting a darker shade of experimental rock, combined with striking vocals and a homage to punk, the boys have definitely found the ‘new sound’. Fellow Phlexx signees, Do Nothing are set to add European festival dates in Belgium, The Netherlands and Spain later this year. Don’t miss the opportunity to see one of the best up-and-coming UK bands in an intimate venue before they hit it big – catch them playing Rescue Rooms at 10:15pm.
