Review: Camila Cabello – Easy

Camilla Cabello has come a long way as a solo artist since leaving her former girl group ‘Fifth Harmony’ back in 2016. With her new single ‘Easy’, Camilla continues to provide us with some great songs that within a short amount of time, will be stuck in your head.

On ‘Easy’, Camilla explores the positives of a relationship and how two people can bring out the best in each other: “Always thought I was hard to love / Until you made it seem so easy.” This single follows the release of Cabello’s other tracks ‘Cry For Me’ and ‘Liar’ taken from her new upcoming album ‘Romance’ yet to be released. In a recent interview with the Rolling Stones magazine, Cabello explained: “These songs are basically the story of my life the past couple years and the stories I’ve accumulated.”

Camilla also uncovers her insecurities within a relationship: “You really, really know me / The future and the old me / All of the mazes and madness in my mind.” It is the repeated theme throughout the song that when you find the right person, love is as the song title explains, easy.

There is a possibility the song was written about Shawn Mendes, as he and Camilla have been in a relationship since their duet ‘Senorita’ together. However, who would blame her for wanting to be with him – I wouldn’t. I may have had a not so secret crush on Shawn Mendes in my younger teenage years, not at all now.

‘Easy’ combines meaningful lyrics of the love and compassion within a relationship that brings the best out of each person as well as a great pop hit that will soon be sung by everyone who listens to it.
