Review: Dua Lipa – Physical

Going into a new decade, Dua has now graced our ears with her new single ‘Physical’ which is guaranteed to get you dancing in the club.

Not only was the single released on Friday but Lipa also gave us an energetic music video to go alongside it. After watching this music video, there is a lot of colour changes with costumes so be sure to keep up. We start off with Dua and her mystery man dressed in red, and alongside the lyrics of the song, it can only make me presume red is used to represent the passion, the heat, the excitement and the danger that goes with the song. From the onset, this is a catchy tune which will inevitably get your feet until the explosive chorus hits and you’re throwing full shapes on the dancefloor.

Dua sings “Common love isn’t for us” and it is more fun to keep things with no labels on and “keep on dancing like you ain’t got a choice.” The catchy tempo alongside the lyrics makes it a lot easier for you to get up dancing and not stop as Dua says in this future club hit the “Adrenaline keeps on rushing in.”

By watching the music video, you will be given even more ignition to get up and dance as there is non-stop dancing throughout the whole video. Not only this, but the unison of the dancers is so sharp and consistent it makes it even harder not to get up and dance.

The song does have a similar style to Olivia Newton John’s 1981 classic ‘Physical’ as they are both full of energy and umph, but Dua Lipa’s ‘Physical’ is great in its own unique way. It’s definitely one of those songs where you will know the lyrics to the chorus and keep singing it in your head after its first listen.
