The Best of Emma Roberts

As she celebrates her 30th birthday today, we look back at Emma Roberts – a star of our generation.

Since she first blessed our screens in 2001, Emma has been in over 40 movies and nearly 20 television series.

It is no surprise that Roberts decided to become an actress, since it runs in the family.  Most famous is her dad Eric Roberts and her Aunt Julia Roberts, a household name.

Emma was born in New York and spent most of her childhood hanging out on film sets. When she was just ten years old, Emma starred in the film Blow alongside Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz.

So to commemorate her 30th birthday, let’s take a look at some of her most well-known roles.

Unfabulous

Many of us didn’t know much about Emma Roberts until she starred in the Nickelodeon Sitcom, Unfabulous, as Addie Singer, from 2004-2007. The middle school student dealt with the usual teen problems. However, with a little help from friends and her music, she survives. This series also gave Emma a chance to embark on her music career, as she released two singles from the show in 2005.

Wild Child

Who can believe that the teen comedy Wild Child was first released all the way back in 2008? With Emma Roberts starring as the spoilt American, Poppy Moore. After being sent to boarding school in England, alongside help from her new friends, she soon becomes a much better and happier person. This film was also the first time Emma swapped her golden locks for brown curls.

We’re the Millers

This family favourite is unforgettable, despite it being released almost a decade ago in 2013. Emma Roberts stars as Casey Mathis, alongside Jennifer Aniston, Will Poulter and Jason Sudeikis. Together they form an unconventional “family” so they can pick up a shipment from Mexico, because who would suspect a sweet little family of filling their RV with drugs? Although there are a few bumps along the way, their clashing personalities are sure to end the trip with a bang.

Scream Queens

Emma also starred in Scream Queens as Chanel number one, in the 2015 series, alongside another former Nickelodeon star, Ariana Grande, as Chanel number two. The series also hosted dozens of other big names, including Lea Michele, John Stamos, Nick Jonas, and Skyler Samuels. It follows the lives of a sororities members when they are under attack by a serial killer, who hides in their university’s mascot.

Nerve

This 2016 action thriller is one not to forget. Emma starred as Vee, alongside Dave Franco as Ian. Living in a world of thrill-seekers, she is soon pressured to joining Nerve, a popular game where people are challenged to accept dares and win money if they complete them. But these dares are no walk in the park, with many involving dangerous stunts and illegal tasks…

Holidates

Most recently Emma has starred in Holidates, as Sloane, a woman in Chicago who is fed up of being single during the holidays, especially as it means being pestered by her family who all seem to be in relationships, even the kids! But when she meets Jackson this all changes when the duo decides to be each other’s “Holidates”. As you’d expect in a romantic comedy, it’s not long before they start to fall for one another.

The star has also captured our hearts off-screen, most recently during her acceptance and welcoming attitude towards motherhood. During her pregnancy, she was interviewed by Cosmopolitan and was praised for flaunting her baby bump rather than hiding or holding it as most do. She then gave birth late last year to a beautiful baby boy, who she shares snippets of across her social media.
