Nottstopping digital festival preview: Saturday’s music highlights

Circle of Light and Hockley Hustle have collaborated to create the Nottstopping festival, a Bank Holiday extravaganza which will virtually celebrate and connect Nottinghamshire.

The festival, which will take place over the 23rd and 24th of May, will be fundraising in support of the countries hard-working key workers to provide an array of gifts, treats and experiences.

The Bodega: A conversation with Do Nothing

One of the city’s most renowned music venues is filling the void of gigs with an ‘In Conversation’ talk with Notts rising art-rock combo, Do Nothing. The 4-piece band released their debut EP earlier this year and have toured with Interpol and Baby in Vain in Europe and Kagoule in the UK.

Dot To Dot Festival

Dot To Dot Festival has been showcasing the best in upcoming music for 15 years. Their stage will see them dig into their archives to host highlights from the likes of Wolf Alice, Slaves, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man and many more.

Rescue Rooms: The Nottstopping Nottingham Music Quiz

Since its establishment into the Nottingham music scene in 2003, Rescue Rooms has hosted everyone from the likes of The Killers, Bloc Party and The Libertines. Their infamous pub quiz has cemented itself as the place to be on a Thursday, and here they present a very special Nottstopping Rescue rooms Quiz special

Rock City Presents: The After Party

Nottingham’s legendary music venue will be carrying on their Saturday night event, Rebel Rebel, by hosting the Nottstopping after party. They will be going live via Facebook and Twitch and tell viewers to expect “huge sing-along anthems.”

Inspire Youth Arts: Live Stream

With over 20 years of award-winning experience, Inspire Youth Arts deliver innovative, bespoke art projects with young people across Nottinghamshire and beyond. On Saturday they will showcase the very best of young talent that Notts has to offer, and host award-winning Able Orchestra musician Jess Fishers to demonstrate how to make music with the CONTROL ONE wheelchair controller.

Rough Trade: Saturday

Rough Trade will be delivering a selection of pre-recorded content from some of their favourite artists over the whole weekend. On Saturday, they welcome a vast selection of Nottingham artists such as Katie Cooper, Velvet Blush and Sancho Panza.

A Nottingham-based record label which strives to nurture and champion the talents of those involved in the business. They are currently asking Nottingham musicians to write and record a 30-second song which will be released digitally. A music video is also in the works compromising of key workers, Nottingham musicians and industry faces singing a line from a well-known song to remind people of the inherent love we all have for one another in the face of adversity.

Women In Music is an initiative in Nottingham that aims to address the gender imbalance in the music industry by providing a platform for positive change and affirmative action. They are hosting a fascinating discussion from women working in the industry, such as Carlina Gugliotii, Dom Frazer and Helen McGee.

My House Your House: 19 Hour Nottsopping Festival Bonanza

What: Beats and bangers, dancing shoes necessary

On Saturday, they will be hosting a specially selected 19-hour non-stop schedule of performers from Nottingham, as well as special appearances by Lincoln’s ULTRASOUND DJs, and then heading over to DJs in the states for the afterparty.

Metronome

A world-class music and events complex in the heart of Nottingham who is welcoming international and local artists to showcase their talent via their livestream. They are also streaming lots of brilliant music and industry talks kindly donated by talented musicians and speakers.
