Nottingham city center is filled with thriving independent and small chain restaurant scenes for students to check out. To make the most of this scene, I recommend taking a walk through Lace market or your local area in order to look at the different deals as many restaurants and cafes advertise outside or in their windowsills. These deals can include more permanent student deals such as 10% off for students, lunch deals or weekly discounts on certain dishes.
Public

Selling its famous Nutella croissants (also it sells all different types of croissants) this bakery/ cafe is a perfect place for both a hungover brunch and a longer study session. With an interior filled with plants, cards, sofas and merchandise filled with the heat of ovens baking bread available for purchase. Croissants are a must have, but don’t forget to try some of the sandwiches to make the most of the fresh bread.
Movers

One of Nottingham’s most interesting new openings, Movers is changing up the cafe and bar scene by creating a safe space for creatives. The multi purpose radio started off in Sneinton that has now moved to a larger permanent venue looking to promote up and coming DJs. Open as a cafe in the day and a bar to dance floor in the evening. To make the most of the experience they consistently post who is performing in the upcoming weeks to their Instagram, to check out who is playing.
Peter Pizzeria

Tucked away at the back of Public and Plants Peter pizza offers up one of Nottingham’s best pizza experiences (despite a one guy TripAdvisor claim it was the worst pizza of his life). With both indoor and outdoor seating it is perfect for all seasons dining. My personal recommendations to try are Wild Boar and Chilly Honey and the Carbona Pizza for an unexpected take on the traditional Italian pizza.
Yamas

The best Greek spot in Nottingham (in my humble opinion). This was the first restaurant that I ever tried in Nottingham on my mum’s first visit, and it did not disappoint. It hosted enough items that we could both enjoy (me as a meat eater, my mum as a vegetarian). Filled with a menu of dips, fresh bread, wine warped lamb and rice, grilled halloumi, salads, seafood. In lunch specials you can also get gyros and deals on selected menu items.
The Bagel Project

A local Nottingham based chain serving up fresh bagels each day. Perfect for those wanting to pick up a quick lunch or take more time to sit and enjoy a meal on their sofas. I’ve enjoyed it on multiple occasions, both as a hungover breakfast and as part of a mad dash to a station. On both occasions the quick fresh bagels filled with meats, cheeses, avocado and a range of other toppings. If you get to the shop in the morning they have a solid breakfast deal to enjoy.
Marmaris

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner this Turkish restaurant is serving up some of the best, most reasonably priced food in town. With welcoming staff and a bright interior. Personally I love picking up some of the fresh baked bread, paired with some delicious dips and some form of char grilled chicken meat on offer on the side, in order to take the most of the extensive menu.
