Review: Virgin River

It has been about a year since Virgin River started on Netflix and after a long wait, the second series has arrived!

Virgin River is about a nurse practitioner named Mel, who has run away from Los Angeles after a traumatic event changed her life forever.

Upon arriving in Virgin River, she insulted her boss without realising, entered her new home – a dilapidated cabin ā€“ which was nothing like the photos that she was shown prior.

Fed up with all of this, Mel begins to talk about leaving. However, Hope McCrea – the mayor of Virgin River – suggests that she goes to the nearest bar run by Jack Sheridan, a war veteran with PTSD which has caused him to become an alcoholic. Mel and Jack instantly fall in love despite many complications including the fact that she is not ready to be in a relationship with anyone just yet.

The end of the first series left many viewers shocked and screaming at their screens as (spoiler alert!) Jackā€™s girlfriend Charmaine found out that she was pregnant and told Jack (the father) after he and Mel had kissed for the first time.

If fans were shocked at the cliff-hanger at the end of this series, they better be ready because it pales in comparison to the cliff-hanger at the end of the second series because all of the questions from the first series have more or less now been answered, which leaves room for more questions and problems to arise, which led to that unexpected, explosive final scene.

Despite the fact that there were many upsetting and shocking moments throughout, there were also happy moments between couples including Vernon ā€œDocā€ Mullins and Hope McCrea and Jack and Mel; including an engagement and the first time that Mel and Jack admitted that they love each other.

Like many fans of the show, I cannot wait for the third series, to see what else is going to happen in the town of Virgin River and to see if everyoneā€™s problems can be solved once and for all!
