TV Review: RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 2 Episode 6

The recent episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is full of laughs as it finally presents the very highly anticipated “Snatch Game!”

Warning: major spoilers ahead…

Once again, the search for the UK’s next drag superstar continues this week with RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, Graham Norton with our guest appearances by the iconic Gemma Collins and guest judge – Jesse Ware.

The main challenge this week was the Snatch Game. This is the midway point of the competition, a time most fans look forward to where the contestants put on their best celebrity impersonations.

Last season produced some great British comedy with the amazing double win from The Vivienne as Donald Trump and Baga Chipz as Margaret Thatcher. Fans have been excited for this episode from the moment the season began, and this season hosted a snatch game not to be missed.

My clear favourites this week by far were Bimini Bon Boulash giving a sensational performance as Katie Price with tag lines such as: “The nipples are the eyes of the face”. Iconic.

I also adored Ellie Diamond as Vicky Pollard from Little Britain which I believe was so spot on, every time she said: “SHAT UP”, I couldn’t stop laughing at the TV.

After taking part in the snatch game, the queens made their way to the runway with this week’s theme being “prehistoric”.

Overall, I was impressed but I thought so many took the easy route and could’ve got way more creative with the runway.

However, some of my favourites included Bimini, Tayce and AWhora’s runway looks which looked high fashion on the runway.

This week the judges placed Bimini and Tayce in the top and the lower three: Tia, Awhora and Lawrence. However, I do think the judges got it wrong this week. I believe that Awhora deserved to be in the top three as her impression of Louis Spence was so good, whilst Ellie Diamond deserved way more recognition for her perfect impression of Vicky Pollard.

Meanwhile I do believe the judging was correct on the winner this week, so a massive congratulations to Bimini who did the best Katie Price impression I have ever seen! Along with a runway look that is alternative and completely outside of the box – which I just love.

The bottom two this week was Tia Kofi and Lawrence Chaney. Based on their performances, I have to agree with this decision. In the lip-sync, they both performed brilliantly to “Touch Me All Night Long” by Cathy Dennis.

Sadly, this week the right queen went home, after three bottom two lip-syncs Tia Kofi was ready to go home, but she should be recognised as bringing some of the most hilarious, relatable moments throughout the series.

This episode is brilliant in terms of the comedic value which the drag queens bought to this episode in the Snatch Game, however what ultimately let it down was the judging decisions this week, which I believe was unfair to some and favoured others unfairly. Let’s hope next week the judging is slightly more accurate to the performances…
