Khalid decides it’s time to ‘Talk’ as he unveils new lead single

Set to return with a new LP in April, almost six months after his highly acclaimed Suncity EP, Khalid has proved again that he can match his last single ‘Better’, by giving us a co-written and produced track with the English duo Disclosure.

‘Talk’ is about a relationship that has lost its path with Khalid wondering about how to fix it and have a future with his lover. This is a more upbeat and positive melody than his previous songs and remains hopeful that it can be sorted out. It opens with a synthesized instrumental until it gracefully merges with a mellow beat that drops twice in the beginning, especially when he starts to sing. This seems to represent the ups and downs of a relationship with the lyrics “Can’t we just talk? Talk about where we’re goin’”, it is clear they are having communication issues that they need to work around in order to stay together.

Speaking with Zane Lowe, Khalid said of the collaboration, “I met up with Disclosure and they played me this crazy-ass instrumental. I hopped on it and made one my favourite songs I’ve ever been a part of.”

The beat makes you feel like you are in a virtual reality like The SIMS; it immediately puts you into a reflective trance and captures any listener willing to participate. It will be interesting to see if Khalid manages to yet again secure a #1 spot on the Billboard Hot R&B Song charts with the new single. It has already amounted over 500k views on YouTube alone in a single day without a music video, Khalid most definitely has great things up his sleeve on the horizon and will no doubt continue to outdo himself.

The vibe of this song is relatable to people all over the world and with its release just before Valentine’s Day, Khalid clearly teaches us that if you are in a relationship like this, you should probably try to fix it. This latest track cannot be missed along with his new LP out in April and most likely a speculative tour to follow.
