Food Review: Baklava Bistro

Baklava Bistro is a gorgeous little gem – a green emerald tucked in between all the dubious looking takeaways and mobile phone shops that line Alfreton Road.

When you pop inside, you’re immediately encapsulated by the cosyĀ atmosphere – you can choose between a comfy table seat or even a stool by the window overlooking the road.

Baklava Bistro serves a variety of breakfasts, salads, and sandwiches, so no matter what time of day, they’ll always be able to whip up fresh ingredients and make you the perfect tummy filler. Whether you’re a veggie or a meat-lover, the tantalising traditional flavours will wow you.

Their famous baklava…

Their Turkish tea is super tasty, but the Turkish coffee is remarkable as well. I’ve had Turkish coffee on holiday, and Baklava Bistro matches and arguably even one-ups that one.

If you’re fancying something on the sweeter side, their namesake dessert is worth ordering. A plate of that sweet, aromatic baklava is something truly special,Ā  that will have you wanting to have another, and another, and another.

Decadent cakes are also on offer – as with everything, they’re made in-house, and the owner is always experimenting with different flavours, so it’s worth popping back to see what’s new.

Fancy a slice?

The staff are also very friendly. When we popped in for the first time, we were so hungry and tired, but they were so welcoming we would have come back if the food was terrible. That’s the difference between chains and being independent.

On these cold winter days, a Turkish coffee and a slab of delicious baklava will warm you up and fill you up with sheer joy.
