Killing Eve star Jodie Comer nominated for BAFTA award

Jodie Comer – star of BBC’s Killing Eve – has recently been nominated for the Leading Actress award at this years BAFTA’s, an award she also won in 2019.

Her lead role as the unstoppable assassin Oksana Astankova in the BBC comedy-drama spy thriller is outstanding. So, it’s no surprise she has been nominated for this award and has received many awards for the role.

In 2018, she was nominated for six awards for the role and won Television Actress of the Year in the Female First Awards 2018, and the Acting High Flyer for the Marie Claire Future Shaper Awards.

In 2019, she was nominated for twelve awards and won an amazing eight out of the twelve awards. This included “Best Actress” from the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards, “Drama Actress” from the Gold Derby Awards, and “Best Female Actor” from the Royal Television Society Awards.

This year, she has already been nominated for six other awards, as well as her BAFTA nomination.

But before Jodie was cast in Killing Eve, she had been in numerous other TV shows and films. Including her role as Chloe in My Mad Fat Diary, Sarah in Waterloo Road, and Kate in Doctor Foster.

Jodie was born in 1993 and raised in Liverpool where she attended a Catholic High School. For a school talent show one year, she was supposed to be in a dance group but got kicked out after she missed rehearsals due to a family holiday.

So, instead she performed a monologue, and her drama teacher was so impressed she sent Jodie to an audition for a BBC Radio 4 play. Jodie got the part, and this became her first acting job. Her co-stars encouraged her to get an agent and launch her career.

Her career has been (and continues) to be very successful, as Jodie has shown her variety of skills by being cast in numerous roles – all completely different.

In 2018 she was even in Vogue’s list of the top 30 most influential people, showing just how much popularity and impact she has among the public.

Jodie Comer is clearly worthy of her BAFTA nomination. Now it is just a case of seeing if she can win…
