Who wore what at the Oscars

WThe 2020 Oscars have been and gone all ready for another year, and with that, many nominees graced the red carpet to celebrate their amazing big-screen roles.

Hot on the heels of the BAFTA’s the previous weekend, all eyes were on our nominees to showcase the most magnificent and stylish outfits from some of the most sort after designers in the fashion industry.

Sunday evenings ceremony was no different from previous years, with nominees such as Natalie Portman, Margot Robbie, and Scarlett Johansson making the affair just as glamorous as usual.

So in true Oscars style, the nominees for best dressed are:

Renée Zellweger in Armani

Nominated for Actress in a Leading Role Renée Zellweger looked stunning in her custom Armani Privé gown. Winning the 92nd Acadamy Award for her portrayal as Judy Garland, Reneé looked as beautifully sophiscated and effortless as ever collecting her award as a vision in floor-length sequins.

Natalie Portman in Dior

Once again Natalie Portman is all critics can talk about after she wore a custom Dior dress and cape with the surnames of un-nominated female directors embroidered around the edge.

Portman spoke to red carpet reporters explaining, “I wanted to recognise the women who are not recognised for their incredible work this year.” Once again this shows how fashion is more than aesthetic.

Whenever Billie Eilish is set to make an appearance anywhere, everyone is curious to see what she will be wearing. And her appearance at the Academy Awards did not disappoint. In true Billie style, a stereotypical gown was not her outfit of choice, and instead, wore a Chanel co-ord.

In fact, she was dripping of Chanel from head to toe; pretty much a perfect look for her.

Little Women actress Florence Pugh elegantly arrived at the red carpet wearing a teal gown by Louis Vuitton with matching belt and shoes, and colour-clashing ruby necklace. The actress truly marked her first Oscars appearance in style and I can’t wait to see what she wears next year.

Julia Butters in Christian Sirano

Making her debut on the Oscars red carpet, 10-year-old Julia Butters wore a pink gown which she is said to have designed herself according to the designer who spoke to E! This certainly was a beautiful moment for her first Academy Awards appearance.

Billy Porter in Giles Deacon

He might be the only male in this list but everyone who has seen his red carpet glamour will know why.

Following on from his 2019 tuxedo gown, the Pose star made a huge statement in his Oscar-like outfit. The Giles Deacon design included a sleeveless gold feather top and a floor-length orange print skirt was one of the most striking looks leaving everybody already anticipating next year’s outfit.

Olivia Coleman in Stella McCartney

One year after winning the Best Actress Oscar last year for playing Queen Anne in The Crown,  Olivia returned to the red carpet wearing a beautiful black and blue cape dress. Coleman also showcased her new platinum blonde hair, joking that “Winning an Oscar ages you!”
