Extended rent refund for NTU students until April hailed ‘great news’ by NTSU

Students living in Nottingham Trent University-owned accommodation will not have to pay any rent until mid-April.

The university had extended their rent waiver until February 21 before pushing it back further until March 7.

Most students, however, will not have to return until after Easter following the Government’s roadmap from lockdown.

Conor Naughton, President of Nottingham Trent Students Union, praised the university’s decision to further extend their rent waiver.

He said: “[This is] great news for a Monday morning regarding rent refund for NTU and UPP accommodation and future endorsement of private providers.”

Zoe Mallett, VP Community and Welfare, added: “In addition, after productive conversations with NTU, we are pleased to announce that NTU have listened to our representation and will only be recommending private accommodation providers who have offered refunds for students during the COVID pandemic.”

Students who have already applied for the waiver do not need to apply for it again, the date will be automatically extended by the university.

If students have not previously applied for the waiver then they will need to do so as soon as possible, using the Home at Halls App to sign out.

This extension only applies to university halls, or halls run by UPP Halls. A full list of the accommodation that this affects can be found on the NTU website.

The rent waiver also does not apply if you have already returned to university halls.
