Taylor Swift announces new album Midnights

Taylor Swift’s new album Midnights has become highly anticipated, with there being some sort of news on it around every corner.

It comes after the artist has taken a step back to her earlier albums and began re-recording them in an attempt to own the music herself.

One of her first albums Fearless was one of those re-released.

The artist has had a long career spanning over almost 2 decades, beginning back in 2006 with her self-titled album Taylor Swift.

Despite her popularity and praise, it cannot be denied that the artist has profited and gained from both misogyny and white supremacy.

White feminism often goes hand in hand with white supremacy, they interlink.

An example of this is one of her recent singles for the movie Where the Crawdads Sing.

Delia Owens, the author, and her husband have been advised to never return to Zambia as she is wanted for questioning over the murder of an unknown poacher. Where she is not actually suspected of the murder, her stepson and husband have been implicated by witnesses.

Owens also uses a lot of racial condescension within the memoir of her experiences in Zambia and Botswana. So why would Taylor Swift help someone who has written such things make a profit?

The easy answer is that her feminism falls flat and leans towards white feminism. White feminism itself helps to uphold white supremacy.Another answer is she simply just didn’t know and hadn’t looked into any of this.

Her almost two-decade-long career has only recently seen her announce herself as a feminist, which is a step in the right direction, but there is a long way to go.

None of this, however, has stopped fans from speculation after speculation as to what her new album will entail.

From the rumours of her tour, to people speculating that actually Midnights will be 26 tracks, not 13.

The last theory came about when people remembered how secretive Taylor Swift is and the fact that she has confirmed all 13 tracks’ names. People think that perhaps it’s only half the album, that the other half may be a direct reflection of the tracks she’s listed.

This also came about because Taylor has mentioned her love for the number 13 and when in the I Bet You Think About Me music video, the numbers 13 and 26 were spotted together. She has admitted to planning things up to 3 years in advance. The time frame checks out.

Others think it may be a double feature of Midnights and Reputation (Taylor’s Version) at the same time.

Whatever it is we’re getting when Midnights is released, and no matter her past, the countdown started as soon as she announced her new album and fans cannot wait.

With this new release, her multiple albums and awards, there is no denying, that Taylor Swift, whether you like her or not, is beyond talented and there is no doubt among her fans that this new album, whether the theories are right or not, will showcase that.
