Here is everything you need to know about the 2026 Formula One Mexico City Grand Prix, the 19th round of the Formula One World Championship.

Kimi Antonelli Becomes Youngest-Ever World Drivers’ Champion

At just 20 years and 68 days old, Kimi Antonelli became Formula One’s youngest-ever drivers’ champion, taking the record previously held by four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel.

The Mercedes driver secured his maiden title after a dominant season and now holds an unassailable 119-point lead over his closest rival, Max Verstappen.

Following this win, Antonelli joins an elite group of drivers who have won the championship in only their second Formula One season.

This list includes greats such as Lewis Hamilton, who secured his first championship in 2008, and Jacques Villeneuve, who secured his first championship in 1997.

This championship also marks a seventh world title for Antonelli’s race engineer, Peter “Bono” Bonnington, as Lead Race Engineer at Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team.

Ferrari Face Intra-Team Tensions

Tensions were high in the Ferrari garage after Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc almost collided at the exit of Turn Four.

This incident forced both drivers to run wide and resulted in Leclerc receiving a five-second time penalty.

Many fans have suggested that the battle between the Ferrari pair may have cost them a chance at victory.

Speaking after the race, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur said the drivers needed to “respect the team’s 2,000 employees”, as reported by The Athletic1.

Ocon Replaced for Remainder of the 2026 Formula One Season

Esteban Ocon has been ruled out of the remainder of the 2026 Formula One season following the Mexico City Grand Prix.

This announcement comes after the seasoned driver was replaced by reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa for the remainder of the race weekend.

Despite claims by Ocon via social media that no violent dispute had taken place, Haas has since confirmed that he will not return for the final four races of the season.

Ocon will be replaced by Ferrari junior Rafael Câmara.
