European destinations for late November

Trying to fit in travel alongside a busy university schedule is undoubtedly difficult. But hunting for the best deals and working out when you can get away is extremely exciting.

We’ve reached that point in the term where we’re all craving a holiday. It’s not quite Christmas, but the impact of university work has set in. What better to release that mid-term tension than booking a short getaway?

If you’re one of the lucky ones with a limited university schedule on Fridays and Mondays, these opportunities will be perfect for you.

EMA > Dublin

On Friday the 25th of November, you could be jetting off to none other than Dublin. Dublin is great all-year-round and perfect for a short stay. With a beautiful array of bars and some fantastic things to do for students (escape rooms, zoos, eateries, shopping etc.), you can explore the city in just three short days. Flying with Ryanair and returning on Monday the 28th, you’ll be paying just £37 for your journey – which I’m sure most of you have spent on a night out alone…

EMA > Faro

Portugal is known for its sun, sea and stunning foods. Faro, on the southern coast, is filled with cobbled stoned streets and is one of the more traditional Portuguese areas to explore. Faro is home to some incredible architecture that is both vivid and conventional. If you’re a fan of the beach and are willing to brave the November temperatures of Faro – between 15°C and 20°C (so hardly a challenge) – then Praia de Faro will work for you. The journey would cost just £76 with Ryanair!

MAN > Oslo

When you hear the word ‘Oslo’, it’s hard not to jump to the imagery of Norwegian fjords immediately. The country’s capital is famous for its ground-breaking designs and architectural beauties – be sure to appreciate the city’s skyline, which, quite rightly, puts London to shame. The city is a museum hot spot, so you’re rarely stuck for something to do! For fans of the expressionist art era, you’ll be pleased to know that the Edvard Munch gallery is located on Oslo’s waterfront. Those who can get to Manchester are in for a treat, as their return flight will cost just £63!

MAN > Barcelona

If tapas is your go-to dish, then Barcelona is the holiday for you. With flights from just £87 for the 25th-28th weekend, you can’t go wrong. Cut back on Ocean for the next couple of weeks, and you’ll be ready to go. Home to the Catalonian life, Basílica de la Sagrada Família, colourful architecture, and the perfect balance of sea and city living. With a climate on the higher end of the UK’s average at this time of year, it’s hard not to see the appeal. Get in your last getaway before the new year.

MAN > Geneva

Switzerland is an absolute dreamboat at any time of the year. Known for its mountainous range, expansive lakes, fondue, chocolate, and Christmas markets, would now not seem like the best time of year to visit? Beat the Xmas rush and get a weekend break in asap. If you weren’t a foodie before then, you will be now. Combat any food guilt by taking a tour of Geneva’s alpine scenery. A return flight would cost you £77!

STN > Warsaw

Warsaw is an incredibly gorgeous city with enough to get done over a weekend. Costing you just £44 for a return, holiday-goers will have a very cheap weekend- Warsaw is consistently on the list for Europe’s most affordable city breaks! Home to many royal castles, museums, science centres, markets, the Old Town and a plethora of informative exhibitions, you’ll never be stuck for things to do!

STN > Stockholm

Whilst it may be known as one of the most expensive cities in Europe, Stockholm is fairly cheap to reach! As the capital of Sweden, Stockholm is the largest urban area in Scandinavia. Known for its ochre-coloured buildings and photogenic streets, Swedish living could not seem more appealing. Their simplistic way of living is the perfect break from the chaos of student life. For ABBA fans, you can even take a trip to the museum, which I’m sure would go down well with many! Flying with Ryanair would cost you just £58 for a return from London’s Stansted.

Due to the last-minute nature of these flights, you’re likely to find some fantastic deals on accommodation. Be sure to cross-check over AirBnB, Hotels.com, Expedia and more!

Prices correct as of the 8th of November 10 pm, sourced from Google Flights.
