BBC Introducing In The East Midlands: Bringing upcoming musicians to the stage

BBC Introducing In The East Midlands teamed up with Metronome to showcase the best local musicians.

The free event gave music lovers the opportunity to watch upcoming musicians take to the stage on Thursday, November 24.

The event was hosted by BBC Radio Nottingham presenter, Dean Jackson, who curated the line-up and reached out to the musicians.

The line-up included GIRLBAND, Cam Mannix, Stan Buckroyd and Gemma Danielle.

West Bridgford singer, Stan Buckroyd, has only been playing live for over a year had his first gig at Metronome last summer. He said:

“It is such a great feeling getting gigs like this is just one of the things that drives me even harder with my career.

“I just love the live shows, because at the end of the day the best feeling is other people enjoying your music.”

Stan added: “Any live music is great promotion, giving artists a chance to convey the energy and emotion of a song, which is never fully replicable in a recording.”

BBC Music Introducing launched in 2007 and works to discover undetected artists with bright futures ahead.

Metronome Promoter, Kristi Maria, said: “Grassroot venues below 500 capacity are hugely significant as sometimes the artists are performing live for the first time.

“The BBC Introducing events are free entry and it gives people a chance to come and watch bands they may not have heard of before.”

Many singers asked to perform come to BBC Introducingā€™s attention through uploading music through the BBC uploader or through recommendations.

Metronome has worked with BBC Introducing since opening in 2018.

The venue has frequent opportunities for local musicians such as BBC Introducing and the recently launched folk sessions as well as providing support act roles for headlining artists.

BBC Introducing at Metronome will next take place on Thursday, January 19.

Each of these events have sold out recently.

By January nearly 3,000 people will have visited Metronome to watch live music for free.
