Single Review: Jonas Brothers – X

After much anticipation, the Jonas Brothers released two new singles after they revealed this just a few weeks ago. This new track, X, takes us right into the summer months with yet another Latino single to throw shapes to…

From the very first note of the song, you pick up the Spanish vibes that will guarantee get you shaking those hips like previous summer singles such as Senorita, released last summer by Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello.

Although the brothers don’t sing any of the lyrics in Spanish themselves, this is changed by the entrance of collaborating artist Karol G who brings the fiery Spanish sense to the song. Even though you may not be able to sing the Spanish chorus – unless of course, you are fluent in Spanish- you will still pick up on the other lyrics sung by the boys themselves by the end of the song.

Not only after listening do you get instant Latino vibes, but its sounds similar to the previous music by DNCE. This makes sense as Joe Jonas made his success with this band whilst split from the Jonas Brothers. Just like Cake by the Ocean, this song provides a new party anthem to take us through the summer months.

If you were ever in doubt of the flirtatious feeling of this song, then the lyrics “Ooh, ooh, ooh/ Kiss me like your ex is in the room-om-om” show this. These passionate lyrics make you think of that person who always makes you feel like they’re the only one in the room (even if they’re not).

After listening to X just once, you will be singing along to it as it is one of those songs that just sticks in your head and will guarantee to boost your mood. New music from our favourite trio couldn’t have been released at a better time as even though we can’t dance to it in a club and soak up the summer heat whilst it plays, we can still dance to it in our own homes.

This song represents the sort of catchy music the Jonas Brothers have always produced (can’t forget Gotta Find You from Camp Rock!), and even though we may not be able to jam to this new hit in the clubs, we can still listen to it to get us through these tough times and keep our spirits high.
