Pot Noodle set up their first virtual careers fair – and this is what we think

Since 2017 Pot Noodle has been inspiring thousands of students to pursue their dream job, and this year will be no different.

During the lockdown Pot Noodle has made their careers fair virtual, so you can look at potential careers and learn more from the comfort of your home.

Our reporter Laycie Beck ‘went to the scene’ to try out the experience herself and let the readers know her impressions.

She said: “The experience is like no other and is just as effective as a normal careers fair except you can go to it when it best suits you, and you don’t have to be in a large crowd waiting for other people to finish looking at the stalls.

“It’s a great way to show students the career opportunities available to them whilst complying with the lockdown conditions.”

The virtual fair can be viewed on your phone if you scan their QR code, or they even have a desktop version for those that want to experience the fair as best as they can.

Once in the experience you can move around by using your keyboard and explore the career opportunities on offer.

There are virtual stands by Pot Noodles partner companies, such as Fruitlab and True Vintage. If you click on the company stalls you can watch videos about the company and what they do.

Then if you think this could be the job for you, all you need to do is press the ‘apply now’ button to show your interest and start your application.

However, Laycie recognizes there are also downfalls for this event to be held online: “Although if you want to ask any questions you can’t ask them there and then, and would need to email the companies or check the application pack.”

Whilst the experience may not be like a normal careers fair, Pot Noodle have designed the virtual fair to be a close replica.

As there are animated representatives of the businesses next to the stalls, and on the stall tables there are sign-up sheets and goodies.

Pot Noodle also has a careers consultant quiz, which you can take and find out which internships are best for you.
