Man charged by police after member of staff stabbed on Clifton campus

Nottinghamshire Police have charged a man after a Nottingham Trent University member of staff was stabbed on Clifton campus.

Officers were called to the university’s Clifton campus at 10.41am on Monday (January 31) morning.

The victim, a man in his 50s, has been identified as a member of staff at the university and remains in hospital as he recovers from multiple, injuries.

His injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

Ryan Usher, 48, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article.

He has also been charged with assault in relation to an incident where a woman was spat on in Hucknall Road, Sherwood Rise, on January 22.

Usher, of Waldeck Road, Carrington, will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today.

Detective Chief Inspector Richard Bull of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Officers have been working hard to investigate Monday’s attack.

“I am pleased that we have now been able to bring a charge not only in this case, but also for another incident where a woman was spat on.”
