From Mugler to Met gala, the ‘Blackish’ star never fails to fiercely ignite fashions carpet.
‘Joyful AF’ is how Tracee Ellis Ross rounds up her style and we couldn’t agree more. Whether she’s suited up for the street or deliciously dripping in diamonds, the now 48 year old’s closet is contagious and teaches us to break rules and take risks.
Thierry Mugler Runway, 1992
Turning heads from a young age, this Thierry Mugler moment marked Tracee as a fashion chameleon. She beautifully balanced innocence and risqué; the sweetness of the tulip skirt soured by the black mesh sleeves, cutout details and vampy lip that, when combined, captivated her inner gothic goddess. Tracee’s hair is show-stopping in its bouncy bob, inspiring other women to celebrate and embrace their natural hair.
Met Gala, 2019, Moschino
From Mugler to Moschino, Tracee is quite literally a piece of art in a simply sleek, sexy black dress drapes down the pink carpet. Elaborately framed, the queen of sheen’s skin luminously glows whilst her smoky wing and classic red lip captivates the cameras chaos. We love how Tracee is not only celebrating women as art masterpieces with this look but also embracing and educating us on the impact people of colour have had on camp; fuelling Ross’s role model reputation. We’d happily hang this look on our walls
Vanity Fair’s Oscars After Party, 2020, Zuhair Murad
Here Tracee has embodied that golden frame in this Zuhair Murad masterpiece. Ross rises like a phoenix from the ashes, us indulged in her lustrous layers of golden embellishments that individually glow like embers of the fire she flew from. The couture cape gifts Ross a regal status as diamond earrings drop like gold onto her supple skin. Her natural hair curls into front-coiled tendrils, teasing Tracee’s more free spirited personality which outshines any other guest on the carpet.
Tracee in Quarentine, The Row
The carpet does feel like a distant dream for most now yet for Tracee Ellis Ross, quarantine was her runway which she demonstrates here in her perfect-for-summer ‘The Row’ suit. Warm evenings sipping on cold Sicilian lemonade is how we vision this suit yet Tracee likes a sharp edge to her sweetness by wearing some sporty sneakers and gold hoops that are as hot as her pink lip. A dior bag classifies the look as sporty chic which Ellis Ross effortlessly embodies.
Grammy Awards, 2019, Ralph & Russo Couture
If one incredible suit wasn’t enough, we are green with envy of this Ralph and Russo couture creation. Fierce floor length flares and shoulder pad power exudes confidence, with the suit tempting a crystal cobra to coil around its dapper blazer. The combination of her snake cinched waist and lusciously long rope braids packs a venomous punch and is enough to kill other carpet walkers with jealousy.
Emmys, 2018, Valentino Haute Couture
Less snake and more Cinderella, Ross felt she was ‘floating in fashion heaven’ and we couldn’t agree more. This Valentino Haute Couture gown has the puffy perfection of a heavenly cloud yet it’s hot pink persona brings that fierce confidence we know Tracee Ellis Ross for. Ross left her décolletage daringly bare allowing this fuchsia fashion statement to do all the talking, leaving us totally speechless.
Diana Ross’ Birthday, 2019, Marc Jacobs
For her icon mother’s 75th birthday, Ross rocked a 2019 Marc Jacob’s coat. Her fierce flare is captured perfectly through peachy feathery fabulousness that matches her sherbet-coloured Versace dress. Paired with the 60s bob, Ross could quite easily be mistaken as a member of her mums girl band; ‘The Supremes’, thus celebrating Tracee’s time travelling style that’s limitless boundaries allow her to thrive in any decade.
What this Ross rundown has reminded us is not only that Tracee is a fashion chameleon, she also uses clothes to communicate crucial beliefs whilst captivating her audience and giving us absolute life! Tracee is an all-round fashion fanatic as well as inspirational icon that totally deserves her carpet queen status!
