Glastonbury Festival went off with a bang celebrating their 50th anniversary

As we wait another year for Glastonbury Festival, we look back at some of the stand out moments from this year’s highly anticipated festival.

An insight into the festival:

Headlining this year’s festival was The Beatles bassist, Paul McCartney and rapper Kendrick Lamar. Billie Eilish performed as the festivals youngest ever headliner at the age of 20. Artists such as Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Fender made their debuts as part of the immense line-up. The secret sets included Jack White and George Ezra.

Here are some of the most memorable moments from this year’s festival:

Young star, Olivia Rodrigo, definitely set the bar high with her noteworthy performance. She surprised fans at the Other Stage with a guest appearance from Lily Allen. The pair performed F*** You directly to the Supreme Court along with other artists who spoke about their disapproval. The crowd went wild reciting the comical lyrics and had Glastonbury attendees animated for the rest of the set.

Stockport based indie band Blossoms best known for tunes like Charlemagne shocked fans with an unexpected collaboration. Sporty Spice, Mel C, enthusiastically joined the band to perform Spice Up Your Life. This iconic pop song had festival goers going crazy for this high-spirited performance.

Kendrick Lamar stunned fans when he poured fake blood on himself as he chanted “Godspeed for women’s rights” in protest against the overturning of the Roe v Wade. His recent track, Saviour, played as he completed his headlining set. He showcased his latest album as well as fan favourites like Humble.

Lorde brought Arlo Parks and Clairo to the Pyramid Stage for a joint rendition of Stoned at the Nail Salon. The collab brought a tranquil vibe to the hectic grounds of Glastonbury.

Finally, the eldest headlining solo artist, Paul McCartney took to the stage on Saturday 25th June. He brought out renowned musician David Grohl to sing Band On The Wall. Later, Bruce Springsteen joined the two on stage to play Glory Days. Through special effects Paul McCartney was able to play I’ve Got A Feeling with his former bandmate John Lennon. This undoubtedly thrilled all Beatles fans with this special Glastonbury moment.

The countdown has started till we can watch Glastonbury Festival unite all music lovers once again.
